BAT has revealed their upcoming album!

The much awaited follow-up to 2016’s Wings Of Chains, titled Under The Crooked Claw, is the next album from the metal and punk band headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. It is set for release in May of this year on their new label, Nuclear Blast Records.

In June 2021, the group moved to Philadelphia, where Arthur Rizk recorded the foundational tracks for the album Under The Crooked Claw. After the band returned to Richmond, Yavé Rust tracked lead guitars and vocals, which Rizk eventually mixed and Joel Grind mastered. Brandon Holt inked and Margaret Rolicki colored the album’s artwork.

Bassist Ryan Waste says, “This record came together during dark times and its aggression is surely a reflection of that.” He is also talking about the new song and the next album. In a moldy, dirty warehouse, Nick, Chris, and I worked out song after song, channeling our frustration with the state of the world into the tune that became Under The Crooked Claw. I asked the great Italian horror master Fabio Frizzi to write an opening to set the mood for the record, which comes right before BAT’s raw power hits your ears.

I played some of the new BAT songs for Norman Cabrera, who was cowriting a heavy metal horror screenplay with me. We came up with two visual concepts for the future song based on my lyrics, using our shared vision and taste in movies. The first offering is our reworking of a story that Norman fully nailed to the cross about an exorcism gone wrong.
