After police enforcement raided his properties, rapper Diddy has spoken out.
For the first time since police searched his houses earlier this week, Diddy has spoken out.
The musician, whose real name is Sean Combs, has made news this week due to claims that his properties were searched.
The 54-year-old was the target of the raids in relation to a federal agent-led investigation into sex trafficking.
In a statement released on Monday, homeland security verified that the raid had occurred (25 March).
As is typical in these kinds of operations, law enforcement sources told ABC that Diddy’s sons, Justin and Christian, were being held outside the house.
It was verified that both had subsequently been freed without being prosecuted, nevertheless.
“Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners,” the statement continued.
“We will provide further information as it becomes available.”
Although Diddy remained silent about the situation at the time, his lawyer has now released a statement 24 hours following the raid.
“There was a blatant abuse of military-level force yesterday when search warrants were carried out at Mr. Combs’ residences,” stated Dyer.
“There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.”
“Mr. Combs was never detained; instead, he spoke with and assisted with authorities,” he continued.
“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way.”
In a video that TMZ was able to obtain, Combs was seen pacing in a circle outside Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport while sporting a white shirt and blue pants. This was footage taken following the raid.
Federal authorities detained Combs and a few other individuals at the airport, according to eyewitnesses that TMZ said.
What’s more, the video does demonstrate that the rapper was not taken into custody.
Dyer went on: “This unprecedented ambush—combined with a sophisticated, well-coordinated media presence—causes people to jump to hasty conclusions about Mr. Combs and amounts to nothing more than a witch hunt predicated on baseless allegations raised in civil litigation.
“With regard to any of these allegations, no criminal or civil responsibility has been determined. Mr. Combs is innocent, and he will never give up trying to clear his name every day.”
The raids follow Combs’ November lawsuit from Casandra Ventura, often known as Cassie, who claimed he had raped and mistreated her.
The claims have been refuted by the rapper.
